Thunder claps loudly overhead.

Terrified yowling throws the cats of DawnClan out of their dens in a panic. A ragged-looking ash-colored tomcat's maw curls up in a cattish grin and his eyes gleam in madness. After watching the first plume of smoke rise into the air from the brush wall of the camp, he turns and bounds into the forest. Arson.
Warriors and apprentices frantically help the elders from their den, desperately trying to clear the camp before the tunnel was engulfed in flames and their only way out was blocked.
"Is that everyone?" Redhawk, the clan's deputy, called as his clan was herded away from the burning camp. His voice cracked from the smoke that snuck into his lungs.
"I believe so." Someone answered in reply and the clan began to flee towards the lake.
"Wait! What about Greystar and Icefur?"Another cat yowled. Redhawk and the medicine cat returned to where their distressed clan-mate stood. His paws were firmly placed in the dirt.
"Are you sure they didn't get out?" The medicine cat asked. Redhawk's eyes flickered in momentary panic.
"I'm positive." The warrior who noticed the absence of their leader and his expecting mate replied.
"Wait here." Redhawk replied before darting towards the camp's entrance.
"No, you can't!" The medicine cat yowled, but the clan's deputy ignored the warning.

Moments later, Icefur came stumbling through the entrance. Greystar appeared shortly after, his coughing shaking his entire body. A large gash from falling den-structure bled heavily on his left shoulder. Redhawk came out immediately after his leader and firmly nudged both cats ahead of him.
"Help me. Her kits are coming."
He ordered to the medicine cat and warrior and the three of them began to herd the clan's leader and the queen back to the clan. When they made it Greystar slumped to the ground, his chest heaving. The deputy shoo'd the rest of the clan away to let the medicine cat tend to Icefur and he remained nearby. He busied himself with watching the smoke billowing from the camp. He hoped that they were far enough away and that the rain would come soon to stop the fire. A strangled cough from Greystar caught his attention and he crouched next to his leader. The tom looked old and worn. He looked as if he wanted to say something, but then seemed to change his mind. Redhawk was about to stand when Greystar spoke. "Wait." Redhawk waited through his coughing.

"From the ashes, four will rise."

This caught the medicine cat's attention and Redhawk stared at Greystar in shock. He expected the leader to say more, but the old tom took a last, strangled breath and lay still. "That... was his final life..."The medicine cat mewed quietly. Redhawk's heart lurched. Both cats were quickly distracted by the struggling white queen whose mate had just died. The rain finally came and the clan was able to make a temporary shelter for Icefur and the four new kits. They watched as the smoke thickened as the fire was put out by the storm and each cat mourned for their leader.

"In a situation like this, do you mourn the loss of one cat or rejoice the addition of four?" Redhawk murmured, looking towards the medicine cat. He received no answer.
