Biography
~~~~~
This large male is nothing but a bit of a loving jokester, usually seen teasing and joking around with the lionesses in the pride or tussling around with the sub-males in the group. Painterly is seen as a founding king, accidentally taking over the pride after the last king of the group randomly passed on. This leads him distrusting the gods that Rising Melody prayed to, quietly letting his clan stop following after the pawsteps of the gods and instead make their own path without the fear of being judged for it. However despite this, Painterly picked up on the art of painting, drawing on the walls of the rocks and caves where his pride sheltered, painting stories of the past and telling stories to warn his pride of the dangers that the world poses on them all while drawing memorials for those who left and have passed on.
Painterly has a tendency to be kind to outsiders, even if he does like to spook them at first for a good laugh on his part. If asking any of the lionesses in the pride about him, most would happily chat about how he's a hoot to be around. However a few express their concern that he's too soft on lions, refusing to kill another lion even despite the many battles he's fought. Lions claim he's still blessed by the gods due to this, but truthfully Painterly is just covered in fur and can take a good few bites, which allows him to tackle a lion down before they can get a good bite on him. His size and fur mass leads to him being an excellently fighter but makes him terrible with stealth, his mane continuously getting stuck in things.
Painterly truly holds his pride as the most important thing to him, and refuses to step down until he's forced to.
Encounter
~~~~~
Traversing down a rocky path, you realize wherever you were heading was not here. Glancing around hesitantly, you take in the surroundings. The walls of the mountainous terrain swallow you whole, the sunlight being partially blocked by the large mounds. There didn't seem to be any grass or water source heading downwards, but you knew that above this rocky area that there was a few lush patches of growth. Despite the lack of life visible down in the cavern though, it was quite beautiful. Oranges and almost dull pink rocks decorated the sides of the path, and slowly there seemed to be detailed art drawings against the wall, drawings of animals and different lions and lionesses roaming around in surprisingly detailed ways.
It's only once you're down the path and into a flattened out area, cave entrances decorating the surrounding area, does it become clear that you aren't alone. A cry of a bird can be heard, startling you into crouching down in an attempt to hide. However it's only once you're being towered over by a looming figure of blues, oranges, and yellows do you feel true terror sink in. Green eyes study you carefully, long canines catching the glint of the sun and what you feared would find your blood on them.
"State your business."
Blinking in confusion at the casual tone, you pipe up quickly that you were lost. It's just a heartbeat later that the lion smirked a bit with a dull chuff.
"Surprised you made it this far in. Don't fret, just follow me and we can get you patched up. Just had to give you a little spook afterall." With that, the lion led you towards a cave, keeping his promise of taking care of your need for food and water. After a bit of conversation, you find out the king is named Painterly, the lion seeming to be a company full of playful teasing and bright and interesting stories.
