Hatari was one of the daughters of her pride's king.
She was doing good, until her father passed away... He was a primal lion, just like Hatari. During his reign, lions of all mutations were treated with respect, however it changed when a new king took over the pride.
He saw lionesses with mutations as breeding machines. He knew that their cubs could be pretty valuable, and he wanted to make the best of it.
Most lionesses accepted it, but Hatari refused to. She left his pride to look for a new one to join.
During her journey she tried to join many prides, but all of the kings she met were just like the one she ran away from. They wanted to use her for profit.
Through so many disappointments, Hatari became bitter and distrustful.
After months of traveling, she finally found Anza's land. She was already tired, so when Anza asked her to rest in his pride, she accepted his offer.
When she met his lionesses, she realized that several of them also had mutations, and despite that, they were all treated with respect.
Hatari had to think about it for a few days, but in the end, she decided to join Anza's pride.
She was really distrustful toward everyone at first, but eventually she befriended some other lionesses.

She had her first cub with Anza around the same time as Opal had her last litter.
When Opal refused to take care of her daughter, Hatari volunteered to do it instead. Because of that their daughters, Storm and Imeachwa, grew up as sisters. Hatari also thought of Imeachwa as her own child, so she hoped that maybe someday Imeachwa will see her as her real mother... Sadly, she never did, and they never had a good relationship.

When King Anza died and his son, Hawk took over Hatari decided to retire. The last thing she did was mentoring Oleander for a while. After that, she moved to the nursery to spend the rest of her life as a caretaker.
