Phoenix

Phoenix was the first Queen of the pride. She first came to the pride under Izem's rule. Normally, lionesses who are not born into the pride are not given a high ranking in the pride. However, Phoenix found herself being chosen to join hunting parties almost every time. Proving herself to be a worthy hunter, she noticed that she had become the first female to eat after hunts. She no longer had to wait her turn. During her beginning months in the pride, Izem did not allow her to breed to any male, thinking she was not worthy. However, he soon found that the lioness was. The next time she came into heat, Izem claimed her as his. She was now the queen of the pride, his queen. Throughout Izem's reign over the pride, he and Phoenix spent many breeding seasons together. Sadly though, not many of their cubs survived due to the harshness that is Africa. When Izem's rule had come to its end, Phoenix found herself looking for any challengers to her title. But the adolescents and young lionesses knew their place. They knew that Phoenix was the rightful queen to their pride, even with the new king. That even if they did think of challenging her, they could never match her skills, her power, her strength. Phoenix welcomed Tamotsu as Izem's successor, however she could never connect with him like she did with Izem. She and Tamotsu tried breeding a few times, however they were only successful once. Tamotsu knew that she was not capable of accepting him as her partner, even if she wanted to, so he never pushed her, never forced her to breed. He let her live the rest of her days in the pride peacefully. When she was near her last few years, she became the pride's broodmother. She protected the next generations of her pride. Her pride she and Izem built from nothing. She would protect the future of her pride till her dying days. And that is exactly what she had done. Because of Phoenix, the pride has become what it has, and the pride will always remember their first queen, their first ruler.
