1/19/2014: Malkia set off into the desert, following the river into the the great canyons. It was there that she met Nighthawk, a long young male. Nighthawk showed her a large, dry cave set high into a canyon wall, and Malkia agreed that it was a fantastic place to raise a family. Thus, Malkia became Nighthawk's first lioness and she took the name Heron, after her fondness for rivers and cool coloration. It wasn't long before Nighthawk returned with Kestrel, and the two lionesses became fast friends.
1/26/2014: Kestrel announced her pregnancy, and Heron was quite enthralled. The canyon cave will be quite a bit livelier with cubs running around! Heron fawns over Kestrel and ensures she gets first pick of the food pile.
1/28/2014: Heron announced her pregnancy as well! There was much rejoicing in the pride, as a fine huntress like Heron will certainly have fantastic cubs! Kestrel and Heron now loll around and share preggo jokes together.
1/31/2014: Heron gave birth to a little gold girl with onyx markings. She appears healthy and bright, with her father's blue eyes shining. The lionesses are happy to welcome Nighthawk's second daughter into the world.
2/24/2014: Heron brought three more children into the world - all three are strong little girls. Warbler and Bluejay are pleased to greet their little sisters.
5/28/2014: After many years of fantastic hunting, Heron is beginning to feel her age. She is aware that her next batch of children may be her last, but she is proud to see so many of her offspring be so successful. Her daughter Nightingale is sticking around this pride for sure - a successor of sorts.
6/3/2014: Heron brings forth her last litter of cubs - two daughters and a son. Of these, a little girl named Nightingale seems the healthiest. Heron is proud of her legacy. Next month she will be 14 years old, and she wishes to retire from hunting to raise her last litter. She is glad to mentor new lionesses in their hunting techniques.
