It was generally believed by all who saw her that this flame-coated lioness sold her soul to the enemy in exchange for her coat, however no such chains could be unearthed to back the claim. While she may not wear a visible chain, she is known to reside within the fiery depths of the territory claimed by the Kuraku Pride, never straying far from the dark lord's side. If any lion could maintain control over such a lioness as this, this dark lord, as he became known, was her only bondage in the world and nothing else.
Her only rival to the throne was a lioness that went by the very name of 'Oni.' It was a fitting name indeed for the onyx queen especially considering that the very name meant, 'monster' and as such struck fear into the heart of her would-be enemies had they found the courage to face her. Only against the nightmare queen would the inferno lioness be inferior; she had more courage and talent than the queen had in her very claw tips! The queen had one thing that she did not though-fear. Unintelligible, irrational and nightmare-inducing fear that could not be explained or fathomed. Only the power of fear prevented her from striking down the queen as well as her fear that once the act was accomplished, Warin would never look her way again; she would have killed the only thing he truly cared for.

As time passed and her powerful muscles began to fade away with age, Kazan recalled the day when she first met Warin, a strong and highly capable leader, still foolish in the ways of the world. She had been smitten then and had vowed to become his queen one day as it was in her rights as the lioness to inherit Karasu's throne once vacant of its present queen. This was all in the past though, something that was as unchangeable as age. No matter what was done, time would always pass and there was no remedy for the affliction.
Kazan had been an increasingly foolish lioness, believing that Warin would look at her the same as her rival Oni. No...past rival. She had made her peace with Oni and soon began to see the aging lioness as a dearly beloved sister before long; Oni never held a grudge against Kazan for despising her, only regret for purposely gaining Warin's attention. Oni too had been naive in her youth. Only the knowledge from this resulted in their truce then, when rage and battered feelings had been soothed, did they find friendship. After many moons of fighting and despising each other as well as numerous twisted plots came then failed did they realize their foolishness.
Kazan gazed down lovingly at her only daughter in the Kuraku Pride, a soft pale gray bundle resting on her front paws. The aged lioness spoke the words she wished her deceased sister to hear, "Oni, you were right. It is good to have a daughter carry on your legacy after all."
