Lady Nightmare

You approach your pride mates to wake them up for the day - and notice all of them have red mud smeared on their faces. You immediately look at Lady Nightmare - yup, she's totally pretending to be asleep. Hah.

Chuckling, Lady Nightmare runs towards you and rubs her head under your chin, then runs away to prance around.

Lady Nightmare loves to appear fierce and mean. She even has a pair of horns scavenged from who knows what hapless prey animal which she has somehow contrived to wear atop her head as if they were her own. She pretends, in fact, that they are her own horns, and even if she can be convinced to sort-of sideways admit they're not real, she'll never reveal the secret of how she keeps them on her head. Lady Nightmare is a silly, playful lioness who loves being a broodmother. Though some might think it's beneath her royal dignity, Nightmare finds it a perfect job. It gives her the excuse she needs to spend all of her time playing "Evil Auntie" to the cubs. Some of the cubs are a little frightened of her, but none would hesitate to run straight to her side if they were ever in real danger. All of them, even the cubs not actually assigned to her, know that Lady Nightmare would defend them with her life. She isn't as nurturing as some lionesses (that isn't really her style), but the cubs love her nonetheless. Nightmare has befriended a raven, whom she calls Chuks (rhymes with 'cooks'). Chuks keeps a loose eye on all Moon Pride cubs, but pays special attention to the whereabouts of those in Nightmare's personal charge, and he will summon her at once if needed. The cubs who need his supervision most often never realize he's been watching them... until Auntie Nightmare appears, seemingly from nowhere, with that smug raven perched on one of her improbable horns.
