Maji

Maji, whose name means "water" in Swahili, was the only daughter of Svelte and an outcross to the mighty Appaloosa - he must have snuck in there as Mathani had his back turned! Although her name and snowy coloration looked more at-home in a blizzard, she was actually quite fond of the heat and loved water. Maji looked much like her mother, but she was far larger and exceedingly strong and agile, which made climbing along the craggy rock alongside her favorite waterfall a snap for her.

The locals believed her eyes were green and blue because she spent so much time near the falls where those are the most predominant colors, and this fearless queen was considered the guardian of the falls with the froth of the whitewater at the base of the falls permanently etched into her coat.

When former queen Tempest passed away due to age, Maji ascended the matriarchal throne unchallenged, and her royal line includes both sub-dominant males (her son, prince Daktari and her grandson, Kwando), Zambezi, along with Zam's daughter, now-Queen Victoria. All of Maji's offspring are named after her in the form of African bodies of water and, due to their physical gifts, always find themselves in prominent positions.
