Eda was born the day after her father had been killed by rogues, and her mother died just hours after her birth, orphaning her. The pride's shamans were the ones to name her and care for her...raise her as a daughter of the gods.
Eda was a quick learner, but fiercely defiant of her namesake. She refused to allow death to haunt her and began to specialise in healing. She combined knowledge of both herbalism and toxin studies to become the most well-known healer in the pride.
She trained as many young lionesses as she could, then set out to spread her knowledge. Or that was the excuse. In truth, the older lionesses - the original healers - they were jealous. Accidents started happening around Eda. Bad ones. And she wasn't stupid, but she had no proof. All she knew was that those lionesses were the ones who had failed to save her father. And then her mother. And she wondered if there was something there. Some unknown history between her parents and the healers.
It wasn't worth the risk.
In time, she met up with Acha and Nadhari and was an invaluable member of their small ragtag pride. When they arrived in the jungle, Eda obtained permission to join the Shamans and form her own breakaway guild of healers.
Eda means 'Days of Mourning' in Swahili.

HAJI's BIO
Haji's pride was an odd one.
At adolescence, lions and lionesses were sent out on a pilgrimage to find new knowledge or items that would serve the pride well. They were a nomadic Shaman pride and all had some part to play in their complex society, but had to prove themselves before being initiated as a permanent member.
Haji had been training to become a healer.
He had travelled for some months on his journey and learned much, but returned to pick up the scent of his pride and found only scorched earth and charred remains. It was difficult to accept that his pride was gone, but he had to look to the future.
Surviving on his own was certainly no problem - Haji had received the appropriate training before his pilgrimage began. But it was lonely. After a while he came upon a slightly older lion named Geuza who was almost lost to the spirits. Haji nursed him back to health and they became close friends, travelling together to join with another small pride of females, and eventually, Achilia's jungle pride.
Haji had become close friends with another healer, Eda, on their journeys, and together they formed a new guild in the pride - Healers.
Haji means 'pilgrimage' in Swahili.

Eda was heartbroken. She'd grown to love Haji, but he felt he was of no use to their pride. He'd left in search of somewhere new to spread his talents and take on apprentices. She understood, but it still hurt.
