As young male cub was born into the pride, he was small. After looking through so many choice by the King, the title of Prince laid on his weary little head. His mother, a beautiful lioness gave him his true name. The one he would be known by. Lowell. Approved by the King, he would be the heir to the throne. His mother was proud and with her pride, came the gossip of the other lionesses. They whispered only of good things but the whispers did not include her. They did not let her in the gossip and it made her distance herself from the pride, her only companions being her little Prince and the King visiting her.
As a cub, Lowell played with other cubs happily, ignorant to his title as Prince. He was quite rough the other cubs and was a wild card with many mood swings. Despite his rough housing, he was kind and compassionate, even as a cub and as he grew older. He followed his father around, listening to his advice and his stories of the past. Despite being only a cub, it was crucial learning process.

As an adolescent, Lowell became known as his title, Prince Lowell. He was shunned by his fellow peers, not in jealously but in fear of offending him and facing the consequences when he became King. There was no other heir. At least, none knew of one. Prince Lowell was lonely, despite now constantly following and talking to his father. His mother had left the pride early in his adolescence, leaving him to fend for himself, to learn to hunt and socialize by the teachings of other lionesses.
Then, he found that he had a bride. He sought her out, having only hearing stories of her. She was beautiful. As dark as the night and her eyes just like stars, she was a sight for the eyes. But her eyes held the sadness of her mother's departure and her own loneliness. Lowell approached her at last and finally learned of her name. Illunaie. They would talk softly to one another for hours, though Illunaie was most certainly born with a silver-tongue in her mouth with her sassing him to buzz off constantly.

When Prince Lowell finally grew to his title, being a full-grown lion now, he had duties. He patrolled the lands, finding food and items for the pride. He had no time for Illunaie, who was still so young. But to ease her spirit, he allowed her to walk with him to the edge of the dens and there she would be when he returned. To see her smile whenever he returned was its own reward. But that sparkle in her eye whenever he brought a toy or food, it was something else. He then began to secretly craft a very special gift for her. Just for her.
