Akua was the first lioness to come into heat in Azikewe's pride. Thus, she was the first he mated with in an attempt to get cubs of his own blood. Akua is a wonderful mother, smothering the young cubs in the pride with her long cleaning tongue. She is gentle and graceful, her paws hardly making a sound when she treads across the rocky slopes her pride calls home. She gave birth to a single female cub. She loves to play with her lively cub and feels blessed to be able to call the little one her own. Azikewe and herself were worried about the outcome of this first pregnancy, but once she was born, her uneasiness went away.
