As the direct daughter of second Empress Pozcu and second Emperor Khryses, Curcuna was originally considered pure blooded royalty. She looked like a perfect mix of her kind father and her strong mother, and had a pure heart that drove her to be as kind as she could. The lioness sought to do as much good as she could, going as far as bend the strict rules her mother laid. She would often turn a blind eye to lions who accidentally broke their laws, feeling sympathy for the harsh restrictions they were held to. However, she, as a princess, would never suffer any consequences for what she did, and at the end of the day she would continue to live in luxury. Many resented her because of this.
When Izumi freed the pride from Pozcu and led them away from the desert, the princess had a decision to make: leave with the pride, or stay with her mother; she chose to follow the pride, believing they knew she was not like the Empress. Izumi was, at first, hesitant to allow her to join them, and her heart fell at that. Having chosen to betray Pozcu, the young lioness knew she could not turn back. Her mother would kill her for her defiance and lack of loyalty, she knew. But if she could help the others, she would do what she could. She had no idea how much she was detested, however.
The pride protested her presence the entire journey, and many enraged eyes would turn her way throughout it. Her golden fur and yellow eyes were considered a sign of royalty to her mother as a birthright passed from mother to daughter, like her grandmother Pozmaq had passed her traits to Pozcu; however, now it served as a hereditary curse, showing her shameful link to an enemy of the pride. Her father's nature held no sway to anyone now. In the end, she was the result of an incestuous breeding and the daughter of a violent tyrant, and the pride would never allow her to forget that. Curcuna would be ousted from her Royal position and forced to settle as a Common lioness, like her former subject. Despite that, her pridemates would isolate her, leaving her basically an outcast among them.
She was the first lioness in the pride to be tempted by an outside male, leading to her giving birth to Yuga, the first striped cub of the pride. Her cub's strange appearance originally had the lionesses whispering of her giving birth to a demon, which sent the former princess into what resembled a nervous breakdown. She was scared of being banished for birthing Yuga after throwing away everything she had. Curcuna had nowhere else to go; she had no place among this pride, and no place at the side of her monstrous mother, who was now tracking them. She would be dead if chased, basically. This is what led the normally kind lioness to shun her cub. Yuga would not know love from her.
