It took her a long time to warm up to Jangaa after being taken away from her home pride, yowling at him to take her home for the first few days, and avoiding him for months later. Zahira took her immediately under her wing, and raised the cub, who took to the lioness much faster than the king. Nia is one of the only lionesses that will challenge Jangaa, she doesn't fear him, in fact, she doesn't really fear anything.
