Ariel

Completely white, with smoldering brown eyes, Ariel is the runt of Rhea's litter, though to any other mother she would have been the sun and the moon. Often shunned in favor of her sister, Ariel has learned to live in shadow; she is very submissive to Talia and Rhea, and hates Sangreal according to their wishes, but she is very lonely. She is like Asteria, the black lioness; she loves to walk by herself, unsure of her path and position in her pride, unsure of her looks, her skills. She is a lioness broken by misunderstanding, one who is always in doubt of herself, one who could have been great.

Rhea has died, and Talia and Sangreal have left the birth pride; only Ariel remains. She is not sorry that these three great disturbers of her peace have disappeared; Ariel now enjoys the quiet stability that is breeding and hunting for the pride. Her sisters love her dearly, and her cubs have brought much revenue for the family, and she has earned the king's respect permanently. She is happy here with this clan of young lions, and she wishes to die with them.
