Marbas
Unlike The Artist, Marbas is a kind and gentle lion. His mother named him after a fallen angel who often appears in the form of a lion. He grew up in a more laid back pride, whose King believed in showing kindness towards all, and welcomed anyone who needed a home. He actually really enjoyed it there, he always felt useful and loved. He also received useful and challenging training under his King's rule. It wasn't until a new King took over that he finally decided to leave, he was no longer receiving adequate training under this new rule. He left in search of a new, powerful and respected King who could teach him something new. That's when he found The Artist - a powerful ruler with strict rules and expectations.
Marbas was not instantly accepted into The Artist's pride. He first had to pass a series of tests. The first of them tested his strength and endurance, in which he was tasked with dragging a fallen tree across the King's land, from one end to the other. His strength and determination allowed him to pass with flying colors. Next, his hunting and exploring was tested. For this he had one hour to explore the land and bring back whatever he can within the time give. He passed this too, by finding three meerkat skulls, five albino raven feathers, two zebra carcasses and four red river hogs. For his final task, he was ordered to kill a trespassing African Wild Ass foal. He stumbled on this one. His gentle nature couldn't bear to kill such an innocent animal. He was greatly torn between respecting his personal values and being accepted into The Artist's pride. Marbas just couldn't bring himself to do it. He was sure The Artist would reject him for failing this last task, but to his surprise, the King welcomed him to the pride. He respected Marbas for being loyal to his values, which he hoped would translate to a loyal pride member.
After joining the King's pride, Marbas became quite proud and attached to it. He wants to see it grow and prosper, and only wants the best for it. He can often be found tussling and playing around with the cubs and younger lions or watching over them while their mothers are out hunting. He is also often times found sparing with The Artist, keeping him on his toes and in tip-top shape. Sometimes they spar too hard, which can be seen by the scar on Marbas' cheek. However, he doesn't mind, as he is helping keep the pride safe by having such a mighty King. Although he is kind, he is also firm and expects to be treated with respect by the others.
