Her stubborn nature often pays off, however, and the pride has found that her intuition - though often geared towards direct conflict - is often right. Kumon took her in when she was an orphaned adolescent having abandoned her pride because they didn't treat her as she demanded to be treated. Rather than be offended by her nature, he admired her determination and took her in with the promise that she would have the voice and control she wanted in his pride.
