The former Queen when the pride was led by the appointed Vagabond King, Adrouskan, who in turn took her as his queen from the ruthless Svaldifari before him. When Adrouskan was killed in combat by Darsophello, Mundiape' was attacked by one of the followers of the usurper king, the lioness Seragouthi.
Led to a location to retrieve her cubs, who she believed to have wandered off into another lions territory, Mundiape followed Seragouthi. This was only a ruse, however, to keep the queen from aiding the king. While Seragouthi was instructed to only distract Mundiape', the spiteful lioness took the plan much further, and thus her and two other lionesses clawed and slashed Mundi into submission. After the foul night was at it's end, and the king had fallen to the usurper, Darsophello- Mundiape' fell from her title as queen and was refered to in whispers as the Fallen Queen Mundiape'. Seragouthi, having a small group of lionesses as her lackeys, referred to herself as Queen, and the rest of the pride was bullied into going along with it for as long as Darsophello didn't notice or care. Seragouthi's hope was that he would simply allow it, for doing her part in aiding him.
He did not. She had ignored his instructions once, and she was only tolerated until he could find a suitable queen. After he has done so, he sent her away with her cubs to another pride who would not allow her conniving behavior. After this, while he rarely showed obvious displays of sympathy, he appointed Mundiape' to the title of Den Mother to the Queen. Mundiape saw the king's sorrow and regret for the outcome of the take over despite his stoic way of dealing with things. Darsophello knew her when he was an adolescent in the pride, and had no hate toward the older lioness.. and while he had his reason's for the take over- her suffering was not to be part of it. She would have an important position in nursing and caring for the Queen's cubs when she was away on hunt, or needed time. She would be allowed to have cubs with any male that she wanted first, that he in turn would deem worthy. And she would be allowed to raise her cubs with the Queen's own cubs to foster friendship in the young lions.
