Vunjika

Born into darkness and pain that is all Vunjika has ever known and all that she has ever embraced. She once was a weak cub who grew into a weak adolescent, constantly bullied and abused by the others in her pride, unprotected and unaided by her own parents who would often ignore what was happening in order to maintain peace or because they were just too stupid to see what was happening. That all changed the day Ekwensu came for her father. An older lion that was becoming past his prime, her father stood no chance against this mighty and young king so when he was slain, Vunjika took her opportunity when she saw it. Seeing that this new young king was arrogant, she appealed to his ego and was the first to submit. The trickster fell for it much to Vunjika's delight and relief. Soon she became Ekwensu's favourite despite her scars for he recognized her potential and her cunning nature, the cruelty that lurked deep within her. Over time, Vunjika had her revenge, using her new position of power to order the deaths of all those who had ever hurt her or stood idly by and allowed it to happen.

Many years passed and over them, somehow Vunjika and Ekwensu became more like siblings than mates with the cunning lioness taking her place as the commander of the hunters. This appealed to her as the thought of being a queen, useless and constantly fat with cubs, was completely unappealing to her. While clever and ambitious, cunning and cruel, Vunjika was also the sort of lioness that needed action - she needed to get out there and cause as much strife as she could. She found it almost therapeutic to kill what would become her pride's soon to be dinner. This is how Vunjika ruled - vicious and unstoppable next to her brother in everything but blood.
