The cub ran as fast as her short legs could take her. She didn't know if they were still after her, but she wasn't going to take any chances. She desperately searched for movement around her, but there was none. After a while she couldn't run any more, and crawled underneath some well hidden bushes. The darkness of the night easily hid her black pelt, and the thick leaves protected her from rain and cold. She couldn't hear those who were after her, so she decided to rest in the comfy bushes, her heart still pounding. As she closed her eyes, she went through what had happened today. She remembered playing with her friends in their den, when the big king lion came. He watched them play for a bit, but then he picked up one of her friends. Her friend screamed, as the big lion harshly gripped the loose skin of the small cub. Directly afterwards some of the pride lionesses picked her and the rest of the cubs, taking them to the outskirts of the territory. The big lion swung his head to the right, and threw it back to the left with great speed. He let go of the cub, and it flew through the air, finally landing with a crack of bones breaking. It mewed for its mother, crying out in pain. It could barely move. The lionesses watched in horror as the cub cried in pain, but didn't interfere. They put Down the cubs, and ordered them to get Lost. The cubs backed away slowly, watching as the Lions left. One of the cubs rushed to help the injured cub, and the others followed. They snuggled up next to it, keeping it warm. Sadly, some hyenas had heard the cries of the small cub, and charged at them. The small cubs rushed to get away, while the hyenas ruthlessly attacked the injured cub. It screamed in pain as the hyenas broke its neck and devoured it. Eleanor could hear the hyenas catching some of her friends, but with tears in her eyes she kept running as fast as she could. A tear rolled Down her cheek as she remembered the cries of pain from her Young friends. She opened her eyes to make sure she was safe, and then closed them again when she didn't see anything unusual, and the small cub quickly fell asleep.
