Hinata looks over her family with pride shining in her amber eyes. She was the first lioness who had joined Kiba, and she knows she has a very special place in his heart, no matter how pretty the other lionesses are compared to her. She remembers the fateful day she met Kiba as if it was yesterday.....
She had just left her family because her father was defeated by a lone lion who felt the need to challenge him for his pride. The fight was long and bloody but neither massive lion wanted to surrender, but a lucky hit from the challenger changed the battle dramatically, he had managed to claw her father across his eyes, effectively blinding him forever. Her father was no fool, he knew he could never win the battle now, never mind lead a pride full of lionesses without his sight. So with as much grace as he could muster he turned around and started to walk away, head held high. Hinata watched her father and knew that he would never survive blind!! He couldn't even see where he was going now!! The new lion walked smugly to the pride he just won, she saw him catch sight of her and change his course so he could talk to her. She glared at him as he approached, she hated his guts so much. When he stepped in front of her with a smirk planted on his arrogant face, she couldn't take it and swiped him across the nose, leaving a bloody mess behind. Before the lion could recover she turned tail and raced after her father, leaving her pride behind her. When she caught up to her father she saw that his wounds were way worse than she thought, and she was surprised he was able to walk at all. He seemed surprised when he heard her voice ask him if she could help, but his face softened and he gratefully leaned on her shoulder as they walked on. They walked for hours, and Hinata was getting really worried because her father was getting really weak and his breathing was getting shallow, almost all his weight was leaning against her. They came upon a water whole and she was so relieved. She lead her father to the water whole and got him to lay down and drink some water. She got her father to lay down in some shade as she left to find some food, she searched and searched when finally she came across a dead gazelle, she was so excited that she ran over to it and failed to notice the handsome black lion that came up behind her. She turned around with the gazelle carcass firmly grasped in her teeth and bumped right into Kiba's chest, startled she let out a yelp and looked up at the coal black lion, fearful he would attack her for stealing the food. He looked down at her with his winter white eyes and smiled kindly, letting her know he meant no harm. Even though she could feel he meant no harm she was still wary of him. When he offered to carry the carcass for her she hesitated, she didn't know if this lion would kill her father on sight, it was one thing for a lion to help a lioness but it was practically unheard of for a lion to help another lion, especially a older or injured one. Hinata knew she had little choice though, this lion would find her father sooner or later, and she at least wanted to be there so she could protect him. So reluctantly she put down the carcass so that the other lion could pick it up. Before the lion bent down to grab the carcass he informed her that his name was Kiba and that he had claimed this territory, and that she would be safe as long as she needed his territory. She acknowledged this with a nod while thinking in her head that Kiba would probably change his mind when he saw that her father was with her. They walked silently to were she had left him and once they reached the spot, Hinata ran and stood in front of her father, checking to make sure he was still breathing. She heard Kiba slowly approach behind her and turned her head expecting to see anger and bloodlust on his face, but was surprised when she saw sympathy and understanding in his eyes as he brought the carcass up to them and gently layed it by the elder lions head. At the smell of food her father lifted his head and smelt the air, Hinata knew he had smelt Kiba when his body suddenly tensed up. She quickly stepped closer to her father to reassure him the Kiba meant no harm but she was startled to see Kiba bend his massive head and gently lick some blood off her fathers face, murmuring that he would not harm him and that he was welcome to stay in his territory to recover. Shocked that the other lion was actually going to help him and let him live, Hinata's father blindly nuzzled Kiba's face in gratitude, then turned his attention back to the carcass and started nibbling on it. After he was done he gently layed his head on his paws and tried to get some sleep, but his body started to shiver. Hinata layed down on one side of her father and to her surprise Kiba layed on the other side and offered his own body heat to the wounded lion. Overcome with emotion, Hinata lent over her father and licked Kiba's muzzle, Showing him how much she appreciated the kind males actions. Kiba looked suprised for a moment but his eyes softened and he returned the lick with a nuzzle of reassurance. With that the three lions drifted into a peaceful slumber, Hinata cuddling into her fathers side, and Kiba tightly pressed against the older male with his head carefully resting on the bloody males shoulders. They awoke to the morning sun and the songs of the birds, but Hinata and Kiba could tell that something was wrong right away. Not wanting her feeling of dread to be right, Hinata checked on her father beside her, and her heart dropped when she realized the only family member she had left was no longer breathing. With a heavy heart she studied her father, and saw the peaceful expression he wore on his face. She bowed her head in sorrow until she felt a warm body sit carefully next her her, with grief shining in her eyes she looked up into Kiba's eyes, which were filled with a pain of his own. It was then that he told Hinata of his past and the slaughter of his whole family, including his father, and how brutal and terrible it was. He pointed to her fathers peaceful expression he wore in death and gently told her to be thankful that her father died in his sleep, with his loving daughter right by his side. Hinata could find no argument with what Kiba was saying, and some of the sorrow was lifted from her shoulders knowing her father died happy, and not in pain or suffering. Holding her head up high she asked Kiba if she could be the first lioness to join his pride, knowing full well she had already fallen head over heals for the soft hearted male. Kiba looked shocked at first. but then a brilliant smile lit his face and he nuzzled her neck, repeating how honored he would be if she joined him. They buried her father that night by the water whole.....
And that is how Hinata joined Kiba's pride. She thought about that time with a small smile, until she saw one of her daughters coming up to her telling her they were going hunting. With a last glance to her new family that her and Kiba have built, she follows the first two daughters she gave birth too towards the open Savannah, before she left she quickly trotted up to Kiba and gave him a lick, which he returned with a nuzzle and a soft smile gracing his face.
