Ahri* ~Head Huntress

2yr 10mo: Ahri could tell that Taurok favored her. Of all the other lionesses, he always gave her priority when planning a hunt, and checked on her regularly to make sure she was happy and healthy. He even gave her playthings like bones and skulls, to the point that the other lionesses envied her pampering.
One night, he told her why. "You are the most beautiful lioness I've had the pleasure to come across in the wild, Ahri." He spoke in a soft voice that rumbled with deep, resonating notes. "It's true that others may hold higher position than you, especially since you're still young. But I see beauty and potential in you. I'd like to make you my lead huntress someday. You shall study under Zara and learn from her. Assist her in planning and executing hunts, and someday you shall make a fine huntress. Now tell me, is this what you want? Would you be happy with this duty?"
Ahri was momentarily shocked, but recovered herself quickly and found her words. "I would be honored, Taurok. Before you took me in, I was living as an outcast. There was no future for me but to survive and hunt for myself. Now, you've given me a family and asked me to hunt for them so we may all survive. I am happy here, and I will gladly serve you as a huntress-in-training. So, thank you." She bowed her head as he leaned forward and nuzzled her face, giving her a big, wet, lick before smiling at her, then walked away.

5yr: Zara had been gone for about a year now. As Ahri went about her business, she saw new faces in the pride, new lionesses that Taurok had brought home. Ahri wondered how long they, too, would stay, before moving on to new prides or leaving on their own. It's not like there was enough food to go around.
Taurok had discussed with her the idea of making hunting parties, so she could easily round up a group of huntresses without having to choose random lionesses each time. Within days, she had hammered out 3 different parties so that each huntress could have a chance to rest before setting out again.
Selecting two other experienced huntresses and two trainees, Ahri's Band was the most frequent to go out and search for food. Thanks to the major drought, however, they often came back with nothing to show for their effort. Ahri's task to keep up her huntress' spirits, and keep meat in the bellies of her pride, grew harder and more daunting each day.
