Tigereye Quartz

The old lioness was leading her recently born cub back to her pride. This was probably her last cub and she was praying she had enough strength and fortune to raise it. Her king was tiring of her and she even doubted the sencibility of her return to the pride. Unwanted wife raising an unwanted cub... what dreaded fate for both of them.
Because of a large herd of wildebeest she was forced to make a detour, cutting into foreign territory. She was following a dry river bed when her worse fears came true. From around the corner came out several lionesses accompanied by a young king. The females prepared to assault the intrudor when their king called them off. He came over and greeted the old female and her cub and then questioned her briefly. She was honest about the tensions with her pridemates and the resentment of her king. She was relieved and surprised when the young lion offered her and her cub patronage and protection.
She glanced at the younger lionesses and discovered that all their agression was replaced by expectation. Whatever their king's choice, they'd accept it without question. Tigereye did not understand his motives but could tell his intention was good. She accepted his offer and her new sisters came closer to greet her. From then on Tigereye's days were filled with love and peace. She earned everyone's respect by becoming a hunting tutor for younger lionesses. With her guidance the group brought down many large beasts, so important to the ever growing pride.
