Genghis

The land of gold is what they once called it, the sun glinting off the glimmering surface. It had been occupied once, by a pride of lions who dwelt there in secret, keeping their shining land to themselves. No one knows where they went, or even why they went, but it is said that the sun had vanished, beginning the reign of darkness, and the glittering gold that had once graced the earth faded into dusk of the fallen sun. There had once been a time when the gold was as plentiful as the grains of sand on the beach, but the rise of darkness left nothing in its wake. Nothing for future generations, and nothing to survive on.
For years, the land lay in the darkness, abandoned and uninhabited, until a young male came along. Pushed out of his own pride, he'd had to learn to be strong and fearless, never letting his fear show. His dark pelt blended in nicely with the darkness of the land, and as he walked through it, his strange gold markings shone in the sun.
Gold had returned to the land.
