Euphrates {Queen} ~ Onyx

Euphrates is very mature. She's well-respected and trustworthy. This is why Margaery dubbed her as the next Queen. She could sense from first moment of meeting her that she would do well as the matriarch of the pride. Euphrates stepped up to the responsibility with modesty and grace.

When Tigris showed up to the pride without a word, the only word they could get out of her was 'Euphrates'. "Euphrates will be here soon", "It'll be better when Euphrates is here", etc., were the only things she'd really say. And then one day, Euphrates showed up. The pride was much relieved to find out that Euphrates had more to say. She explained Tigris' strange behavior. They met when they were young cubs and became a very closely bonded pair--nearly joined at the hip. But then issues happened in their previous pride and Euphrates sent Tigris to find a new home, with a promise that she'd join as soon as possible. It was very secretive and dangerous but Tigris trusted her. Now that they're together again, Tigris is a little bit friendlier to other pride members, but only a little bit. When she's beside Euphrates, she lights up. Euphrates, however, is much easier to get along with. Despite her mysterious past, she is very mature and respectable. She's gentle to all. Even non-lions come to her to talk to her and get her advice. She listens to what others have to say and engages in conversations and discussions. This is why she became the new queen.

Euphrates and Marko (*prev name of Mekaisto) have a mutual respect and understanding. He knows her heart belongs to Tigris, and even in her death, he feels his heart still belongs to Margaery. But they get along well and they lead together well. They are perfect partners and thus lead the pride with grace. They have become good friends in this process.

Luckily, Tigris was still around when she reached her old age so they could spend many of their elderly days together. The way it should be.
