Akila, while raised with many other of the pride's cubs, came from unknown origins. Her personality went from sweet to bitter to mean as she grew older, and the change did not go unnoticed. As a teen, most of her cubhood playmates either avoided her or refused to partake in any mean-spirited jokes or dangerous adventures, so she grew used to wandering off on her own. Akila attached herself to Saigon's side once she realized the two had a few things in common, more than anyone else she knew within the pride. After some time, the two formed a strong bond, even loved each other, although submales could not take on mates. But since Saigon was a prospective heir, that could one day change.
