Kosa is the second sorceress to grace the Joka pride. Though she is joined young, so was her predecessor and mentor, Matope, and like Matope, she learned quickly and eventually met her silent partner spirit, Toc. She now has an apprentice, Icien. Her story can be found below.
--------
Kosa is the great-great grandaughter of one of the
First Joka's original lionesses, Theluji. Her great-grandmother was
Baridi, a loyal advisor to Joka the First and Second until her death, and sister of
Vuli, the Second Tochi. This also makes her the great grandniece of the powerful sorceress
Matope, the younger half-sister to Vuli and Baridi. She was the last cub born to her mother Asubuhi, an elder lioness.
At 2 years, 3 months, she was taken as an apprentice to Matope. Her first task of apprenticeship was to study in the Animal Graveyard unguarded to learn the way of spirits.
Upon the second month of her training, Kosa's first task was considered complete, and she was assigned to return to the Den and discuss spirits with her master, quizzing herself and learning what the local entities seek, and what they give in return. Matope brought Kosa back to the graveyard many a night in order to teach her how to recognize the spirits, and how to more deeply connect and communicate. Kosa spent her month exhausted but enthralled.
Kosa came into heat during her third month of apprenticeship and was tasked by Matope to help the lionesses whose heat overlapped with her own to pair with viable kings and assist in escorting them across territories. She returned to her training at night, learning to prepare blessings for the pregnant lionesses and ceremonies for birthing before their return. On her master's advice, she kept herself out of the fun and games, lest pregnancy distract her from Matope's intense teaching.
When the pairing slowed down, her free days were spent in the field with Matope, learning to identify the local flora, and to test new discoveries for use. When Matope seemed too tired to follow, Kosa would bring home plants or stay by her teacher and learn more ceremonies, filling her head with all she could remember and learning to divine what she couldn't.
Six months into Kosa's training, Matope died, though her snake Parens lingered near Kosa.
The first truly intimidating ceremony under Kosa's sole guidance was the coronation of
Tileo, the third Tochi and his mate,
Cileo. Even Parens was no help, but Hasira (Second Joka) and Vuli (Second Tochi) urged her along, inspiring her and awakening memories with stories of their own coronations. Using all the confidence she had, Kosa successfully crowned Tileo as king, at the same time cementing her position as a full-fledged sorceress to the dens.
A few months later, Kosa found herself wandering with Parens, sniffing flowers and trying to decide what to bring back to the animal graveyard for both the fresh and the ancient gravespots of pride elders, when Parens slithered into a bush. When he returned, a strange dik-dik followed. It was stark white, but even more unsettling, it was unperturbed by the lioness. Parens coiled near Matope's bones: his usual resting spot. Letting him sleep, Kosa followed the dik-dik through the maze of bones to a meadow, full of large flowers that Kosa had never seen before. When Kosa laid the flowers upon the elders' graves, Parens was gone.
The dik-dik eventually revealed its identity to Kosa. It came to her while she dreamt of spirits, and whispered its name into her ear.
Toc, it told her, and she woke knowing exactly who and what Toc was.
As she realized she would soon be retiring into the pride's dynasty, Kosa took on an apprentice,
Icien, the Illusion.

Upon your arrival, Kosa scurries to you and pushes her back and behind against your chin to make you notice her more. There seem to be hopeful sparkles in her eyes.
