Kọfị was always a little strange. Being born with glowing breath was one thing, but when she was only a month old, her mother awoken one day to find a strange white snake had curled itself around her cub and seemed to be protecting her. Having gone outside of the pride for her heat, the mother knew she couldn’t tell Vellan – it would shock him too much to know that she had chosen someone else to father her last cubs to the pride. Kọfị never knew why the other cubs avoided her, or why the pride’s lionesses seemed to be wary of her during their babysitting shifts. But when she was 3 months old, Aseer, her one and true friend, told her that he sensed within her a great power, and told her of many other lionesses in outside prides with their own white animal friend. She didn’t know what he meant exactly, but she found comfort in his words. It was then that the dreams began…
