Being born during a great famine, Namei was hardened quickly after birth. When he was roughly 3-4 months old he wandered off and got lost, completely unable to find his pride. He developed severe mange in that time, and still hasn't fully recovered from it, no matter how many herbs Tertulla gives him. He wouldn't have made it back to the pride if it hadn't have been for the family of warthogs that took him in; he completely disowns Frisk as his mother for the warthog mother, Teta, and he is notably more loyal to his warthog siblings, Mou, Twe, and Gy, than his lion siblings, due to his experience of lions trying to finish him off when he was lost.
Because of this, he has forfeited his slot as heir, for his distrusts all lions save for his father, his sister Malacaie, and Jemma, for they have compassion for animals outside of the pride for various reasons. Namei has chosen to continue living with the pride as a submale, though his does not wish to become king unless he's needed. Krassuss, however, wished him to become his heir. When Krassuss chose to retire, Queen Malacaie took his place, naming Namei as the new deputy, in spite of the fact that the current deputy, Harnen, was still alive. This caused a minor scandal in the pride, seeing as it was against tradition to do this, and thus the four siblings, Malacaie, Namei, Harnen, and Reqon, argued and petitioned over who the true deputy should be. The widely respected former Queen and then-current healer of the pride, Tertulla, and the retired Queen, Ja'mii, both gave their word in support of Malacaie's decision, leading to Harnen respectfully stepping down from deputy. Reqon was angered and attempted to murder Namei to restore Harnen (or himself?) as deputy, leading to his banishment. Namei has since worked tirelessly as Malacaie's deputy, despite his qualms with pride life.
GKK: You sit down with Namei and apologize for snarling at him last night, you were just so stressed and tired. He sits next to you and shrugs while saying he didn't even notice.
