Biography
janus - the roman god of beginnings, gates, transitions, time, doorways, passages, and endings.

janus is incredibly pious. in order to study her tomes in privacy, she keeps her distance from the rest of the pride.

she obtained some of her first tomes from a travelling band of grivet monkeys who greeted her & offered her scriptures supposedly written by the great apedemak. at the cost of a few carcasses, she purchased them, and promptly began to read them, pleasantly surprised by the authenticity of the writing. i'll be honest, i'm fairly convinced that apedemak did have some sort of authorship in them.

after being consumed by the books for days she approached me, dropped the one titled 'identifying starchildren' at my feet, and fervently gave me a synopsis of the passage. from what i could understand, she believed she was a lion chosen by apedemak himself, and would one day join his kin among the stars. she then gestured to the bright white flecks along her pelt, stating that it wasn't vitiligo but a blessing from the divinities. one day, in the oppressive heat of late july, apedemak will deliver her unto the heavens where she will fade into stardust, never to be seen again.

however, she pleaded to me to never tell this to any other members of the pride on the off-chance that they may try and interfere with her destiny. for once, i saw the faintest sliver of hesitation and remorse cause her body to tremble.

i had to accept.

When you come to greet her, Janus quickly gets up, shuffling her paws on the ground to hide something she drew with her claw. Looking for a while, you find Janus sitting between large rocks, away from the rest of the pride. She greets you warmly, though. When you approach, Janus gives you the most intent look, but you cannot figure out why. Janus runs to you first, says hello and runs off somewhere. Huh? [x4!]
