Daughter of Kyraos
First rosette fathered by Kyraos.
After Teikhan took Kyraos' place as King, he decided to approach a cub he had often seen receive Kyraos' affection. To show the pride he would rule with an iron fist, he decided he would kill Kyraos' most precious cub. Teikhan had always thought of the particular cub as nothing special, it didn't have any special colours or the beautiful contrasting markings he had seen on some of the other lionesses. However, when he was close to the cub, he saw the most beautiful leopardlike markings on her. The cub was a rosette, just like her father. It was then that Teikhan decided he would not kill the cub - instead he would make her his Queen.
Teikhan soon realised that since Black Rose was born to a mother who did not hold a high rank in the pride, she was not being raised as a Queen should be. Teikhan thought of raising her himself, but it would not have been appropriate as she was to be his Queen. Within his own pride, Teikhan had some high ranking lionesses who could have raised Black Rose. He considered his current queen, Keun, but she was too young. In fact, being only four years of age, she technically was not the right age to be Queen. Teikhan then decided that as Black Rose would have to rule over the pride, she should be raised within another. He did not want her to be around the rest of the pride as she grew up as it would make it harder for her to give them orders and rule strictly and ruthlessly - he knew this from his own personal experience.
Teikhan decided it would be best to send her to a pride led by King Roei. Roei had been the one to take Teikhan under his wing and raise him, and later sending him to Kyraos' pride to help protect it. Roei and Kyraos were as close as brothers, and Roei was very upset by Kyraos' death. However, Roei loved Teikhan like his own son, and could not hold a grudge against him. Roei gladly welcomed Black Rose into his pride and decided that Queen Brinn would raise her. Brinn was still mourning the recent death of her mother, the High Queen Bakyra, but accepted the responsibility of raising the young princess.
Black Rose grew into a beautiful lioness who completed both her adolescent and adult training with flying colours. However, she became pregnant when she was due to be returned to Teikhan's pride as his queen. This angered Teikhan, but he could not do anything for Roei had helped him out in many difficult times.
