[02] The Beholden

A nameless blind female that had been cast out of her own pride as a youngster, barely able to fend for herself. Her old pride saw no use for a lioness that couldn't hunt, and left without a second thought. Despite her condition and situation, the young cub hung on to life, never letting her circumstance dull her gentle nature and love of life. In her adolescent years she came across the Fool, also an adolescent at the time and a cub that had been abandoned by his own pride like her. She had run into trouble with a group of bachelor males and thought the day might finally be her last, but the Fool and some of his pride interrupted the scene and chased off the intruding males. The Fool offered the lioness a place in the pride almost immediately, seeing in her a potential her birth pride couldn't. He would not cast her away or kill her simply because she could not hunt, he knew there was more she could offer than just that. He asked her for a name to call her by, though her pride had never given her one. Seeing as he had saved her and gave her a new life, she told him he could call her the Beholden, as that was what she would be to him from that moment forward.
