Malkia is the cool, silent one of the pride. As one of the matriarchs and top huntresses she occupies a station of respect among the other lionesses. Despite her grace and rarely sharp tongue she gives off an edge of rage that makes everyone else reluctant to go against anything she says, the only exception being the other pride matriarch, Johari, with whom she shares a quiet rivalry. Both Johari and Malkia have been in competition with each other since day one despite the late Semeru's chiding and constant reminders that they are all a family and operate as one. Even if neither could never be queen they could still command the most respect in the pride or live with the knowledge of their own superiority. As the two waged a silent war of who could kill the most, bring down the best game, or be the fastest, strongest, or smartest of all; Malkia knew she was finally edging out Johari, disaster struck.
