Ice Cover stumbled into the center of the pridelands, her coat covered in dirt and castoffs. She shivered and rushed to the nearest lioness. "I was lost." She gasped.
The Outcast drew her closer. "We will take care of you, little one."
When Ice Covered recovered enough to talk, she told The Outcast how she had followed a group of cubs and adolescents being let by a large brown male lion with tattoos and face markings. "He had a crow and another bird with him. I think he was a shaman."
The Outcast lifted her chin. "Oh yes, he is Crown of Honor. One of our shamans." Though she did not like the king, Crown of Honor was always nice to her. She had no idea why she lived out with these others on the edges of the lands. This was the way it was. That did not mean she was cold hearted. For here was a cub that needed help.
For her part, as The Outcast spoke, Ice Cover leaned against her and waited. It was good to be among lions again, so for now she was content.
"You shall stay here." The Outcast pulled the cub closer to her. "You can live with us and we will teach you to hunt. If you remember, in time how to get to your former pride, you may go of course..."
Ice Cover accepted this generous gesture. It could have been much worse. She had heard stories of lions who killed strangers in their lands.

The Grey Lady died this day. It was Crown of Honor who visited the Outlands to tell of the news. He paused near Ice Cover. "You look familiar, yet not of this pride. How have you come here?"
Months had passed since her adventure, and Ice Cover had come to accept that she was a part of The Storm Pride, albeit one that lived in the Outlands. She did not mind, enjoying the company of her joyous new friends. "I was from the Pride of Light, from King Frosted Barrage's pride..."
"Yes, I see that now. Yes, I do recognize you. You should return home." Crown of Honor gestured to the edges of the territory.
"Oh no sir, I don't want to go back. I like it here. Can I stay here?"
Crown of Honor considered her request. He inclined head and walked on to tell the others of The Grey Land's departure. "Yes, you may stay. For now. However, there may come a day that you must go back."
"Thank you!"
She thought nothing more of the matter, but Crown of Honor knew that King Frosted Barrage might well want the young lioness when she came of age and ready to mate with. For now, she was safe here and need not fear banishment. There was plenty of room in The Storm Lands.
