Ebony

Upon seeing you, Ebony mreows loudly and furiously rubs her head against your chin.

As Kenari saw that Ebony's time was growing near, he pressed his head gently into her neck fur, a soothing purr rumbling in his throat, like a gentle lulaby that lulled her into a state of tranquility and ease. As Ebony's breaths grew calmer, Kenari lay down beside her, his tail entwined with hers as he gently lapped his sandpaper tongue over her fur, reassuring her of his unbroken devotion to her as their time began to slip away. "Thank you for serving my pride, dear Ebony. I hope your time here was cherished, and that it, in some way, brought light to your world. Because you, dear Ebony, brought light to my world, to my pride, and to every lion which crossed your path. And, as you cross the threshold into the life beyond death itself, I hope, that you, bring forth that light. For although your body will depart from our kingdom, your light will forever stay, guiding all the future generations of this pride to come. I too will be leaving this kingdom soon, and although the thought of leaving saddens me, I know the pride will be well looked after. I hope to see you, when my time comes to leave, and ask that you guide me to my new home, your light showing the way as we step forth into the never-ending expanse of stars. Then, and only then, will I take my place as a new star, my light a mere flicker as I rest beside the most radiant of them all-- You, my dear Ebony..."
