Nyati- Swahili for "buffalo" Born during the era of Angani the Meteor. Nyati has a real thirst for the sport of fighting! When she was born, Shaded Stones already had many well-established lionesses of her stature, and there was no pride role that needed filling. As she came into adolescence, Nyati matured rapidly and was full of seemingly boundless energy. King Angani tried his best to keep her occupied, but she always complained of restlessness and grew frustrated with the lack of a fulfilling outlet. When Shaded Stones was visited by a delegation from a battle-scarred warrior pride, a member of the troupe recognized the young lioness's fighting spirit and invited her to spar. Nyati lost horrifically, but was exhilarated by the experience. She begged then-Queen Wakipanda to be allowed to train as a fighter. Shaded Stones is not a pride of warriors and has no true need for fighters, but after some deliberation, it was agreed that Nyati could travel abroad to hone her skills as long as they were used for entertainment. Now, Nyati travels far and wide in order to test her might against the best fighters around. Having won many championships, her name is well-known among the battle circle and her matches tend to draw a huge crowd! Whether victorious or not, she always has a smile on her fanged face when she returns to Shaded Stones after a long tour. The pride's cubs are always in awe of her, and if they aren't frightened off by her intimidating figure, Nyati will gladly regale them with a thrilling tale of how she got her newest or gnarliest-looking scar.
