Admired from birth for her dual-colored eyes, her good sense became clear as soon as she was old enough to talk. With the practicality of a lioness far older than her age, she had some difficulty fitting in with the few other cubs.
Seeing her combination of common sense and some small beauty, the Council convinced Rexbolt to officially name her Queen's Heir, hoping that once grown, her looks would win her Flamepaw's love and allow her to guide him out of his more foolish notions. However, the pride was again largely left in the dark about his decision, to ensure the cub's safety and to wait in case a more suitable cub was born.
With Flameheart's personality change as the true importance and responsibility of his role was pressed upon him, the Council decided that he would be allowed to choose his own Queen from among all of Rexbolt's daughters once he became King. Ironically enough, that same personality change has made Swallowflight desire to be his Queen far more than she ever did when he was still selfish, and she now covets the position that was once hers at birth.
At Flameheart's crowning, she was chosen for his Queen, and under the guidance of the Council and Verrine, is taking up the responsibilities of that role. A very practical lioness, she only wears a small feather that blends with her pelt and the savannah grasses, avoiding the impediment that the jewelry she is entitled to would be.
In recent months, the combination of new lionesses and Flameheart's handsome pelt siring many admired cubs, Swallowflight has felt her position weakening. Compared to many of the other lionesses, she is only somewhat above average now that the pride is filled with the once-rare white spots on her pelt, and her only claim to status and power is her dual-colored eyes and royal bloodline. Luckily for her position, the only other daughter of Rexbolt living is her elder half-sister, Cinnamonstripe, who does not covet the Queenship and has had no cubs survive to adulthood.
After Flameheart's passing with none of their sons surviving to adulthood, the pride began to whisper about her, calling her the Failed Queen. She died without knowing that Flameheart had returned to them as Heart of Rekindled Flame, believing that she had not only failed the duty her father had put upon her, but also that she had left the pride leaderless and without a future.
