Mandisa is a very sweet lion who has raised a lot of cubs, both hers and others over the years. Taken in at adolescent age, she was cared for by the original king Osiris, and his kindness and benevolence hit a soft spot in the 'ness. It is soon found out she is that of the soft, romantic type, willing to find the prettiest flowers to decorate her King's nest and only his, and he would beam at the sight every time. While she doesn't have too many kits with Osiris herself, it doesn't matter to her, all of them, even her daughters' daughters, she loved with all her heart. "I was never one for hunting, as silly as that would sound." Would be her answer as to why she doesn't catch prey, she prefers to be a mother to all.
However a plague had hit her pride recently, killing almost all that were related to her in only a few days, some left the pride for a healthier land, and just a few stragglers were left. Her husband Osiris survived to be a Grandpaw, but the majority of her blood with his is gone, much to their grief...
All that was left of her was her son Basil, who was raised up and on to be the next heir. The two parents wished good hope and life on their last living lion cub, and when he grew up, left him to his own devices to do with the pride as he may as long as it's not taken down a dark path.
While the former king Osiris has retired and died, the new widow Mandisa on the other hand is insistent to stay an active broodmother. While she is getting on in her years, and despite no more cubs of her own, she acts as Basil's main support and is willing to care for any future cubs he takes in. Though she does wish for him to get a mate and start his own family with his own blood-related kin for her to look after.
Which... was all to change.
As Basil had recently taken in a young cub with the most rarest of pelts named Nthanda, "Star" in meaning to fit her Skyward starry fur. Learned to be the daughter of Menhit and Apollyon themselves! (Not canon, only for OC story purposes) And the young couple had gave her to them specifically to start a new life in the struggling pride with fresh new blood.
Mandisa had focused on raising Nthanda from cubhood to adolescent years, where she was soon groomed by Basil to be his new mate, and thus the new Queen of the land to begin a new era. The pride can live once again, and Mandisa couldn't be anymore proud of Basil to have a lioness more than willing to have it do so.
Trivia
- Her son's relationship with his new Queen is seen as very acceptable to Mandisa, and is in fact a common practice to happen in the Khnuma Pride with the King's cubs/daughters as a whole (Having your blood-daughter lioness become your King's wife, they're not a clean-lined pride by the long shot).
- Though that being said, her and Osiris's relationship is nothing like Basil and Nthanda's very taboo one. Mandisa had crushed on Osiris when she was a mid-yearling, and confessed her love to him as soon as she was an adult. Making their marriage (By humans' standards), less "uncomfortable", not that lions care.
- She swore to never take another mate by the time Osiris had retired and died, and is in fact just waiting to join him in the Celestial world with their two new friends.
- She's very openly bisexual, and has been very "friendly" to not only her King, but the lionesses that lived in the pride as well.
- Rabbit is her favorite food as a whole, but at the same time she loves the three white ones she owns (All lions/lionesses are told they're forbidden from eating them or else she will hurt them) so she wouldn't dare eat them. She'll eat the fluffy brown ones she always sees her King dragging in however, those are different.
