Name: Gift
Zawadi is the pride's herbal lioness. She heals physical ailments while Carswell IV heals spiritual and mental ones. The two work closely together but rarely talk among themselves. If Zawadi were being truthful to herself she would admit Carswell IV presence intimidates her a lot, especially with her water buffalo mask on.
Zawadi knows all the ins and outs of medicinal herbs and keeps a small garden of the rarest ones near the main den. She like spending time with the pride, but her herbs require near constant attention and so she's often left in solitude. No one likes plants nearly as much as she does and all her conversations end up derailing to talk about her garden and what herb is best for what.
4/8/18: Being the medicinal healer for the pride, Zawadi took Grheene's death as a personal failing. How could she not heal him? What good was she if she couldn't heal her king of all lions. In her grief, she leaves her pride sisters to sulk about in her healing cave. A fit of anger overcoming her, she trashed her cave with the useless herbs that couldn't save Grheene.
4/16/18: The death Carswell III was tragic, but very much expected to Zawadi. The elderly lioness had injured herself just before going into retirement. A broken rib that never quite healed correctly and there was nothing she could do to heal it. Carswell III simply asked her not to tell the rest of the pride and Zawadi kept the secret. Carswell III suffocated in her sleep about a year after the injury and Zawadi has still kept the secret to herself.
4/25/18: When Queen Fantasia died Zawadi was quite shocked. Fantasia was old, but she was extremely healthy and had no imperfections in body or mind. She had expected her to live to at least the age of 16 years, but she assumed Fantasia had other ideas. Carswell IV explained that old queen wanted so badly to see her husband again and so she passed on as soon as she could. While Zawadi doubts the mumbo jumbo of the stars and spirits she can't help but be happy for Fantasia. She truly hoped that she and Grheene were back together again. But it seemed her sentiment wasn't shared with the pride. All the lionesses were now competing for the title of queen since Trevelyan had yet to pick one. Everyone turned on everyone and the cubs, now adolescents, were roaming around free to do as the pleased because no one was paying them any attention. Zawadi tried her best in rounding up the adolescents, but most knew to take advantage of the situation before time was up and the new queen was selected. Being a bunch of ill-mannered teens, they often liked to poke fun at Zawadi over her obvious crush on Trevelyan. She knew she could never be queen and the pride healer, but she could wish it were so.
4/27/18: Zawadi was a bit remorseful, but still happy for Trevelyan and Ozarka. She actually thought her feelings for Trevelyan would be validated in the exact way he had proposed to Ozarka, but apparently, it wasn't meant to be. Wiping away her tears Zawadi attended their wedding and cheered at appropriate times. She never let on how sad she truly was. When the wedding had ended, she secluded herself to her medicinal cave.
