At a very young age, Kalloriss went out exploring in a marsh near her pride. She was playing in the water and a young alligator swam over to her. It wasn't hungry and was more so curious of the young lioness. Kalloriss wasn't scared and they ended up playing together and getting along great. When she went to return to her pride, she got lost, so instead she made her way back to the marsh. The alligator, Merissa, stayed with Kalloriss, and made sure no other alligator attacked the cub. They grew up together and when Miatchu took her in, she insisted Merissa come with. The alligator stays in the marsh but often visits the pride to see Kalloriss. Merissa now has babies, and one of her sons is especially attached to the mature lioness.
