Successful project - First Pure Albino/Achromia
Many years ago, a strong lion by the name of Sulahti roamed the plains of the Serengeti. He was not a king, however, for he did not have a pride. He did conquer and claim a territory of his own, but what is a kingdom without it's subjects?
Sulahti dreamed of the day when he would find a mate, make her his Queen, and build a pride of his very own.
He searched for other lionesses to join his pride, but his land seemed to be very vacant, until one day, when he stumbled upon something strange.
It was small, cowarding down in the grass. Sulahti had never seen anything like it. Whatever it was seemed to resemble a zebra with no stripes. It was a pure white lion cub, shivering with fear upon sight of the large male.
Sulahti did not see any other cubs or lionesses around, so where was his mother?
He wondered if perhaps the child had been abandoned due to his mysterious lack of pigmentation.
Without any sort of camouflage, the white cub was an easy target.
Torn between letting the Circle of Life choose the fate of the cub, or break the laws of nature and intervene, Sulahti eventually decided to take in the orphaned child, who he named Matimba.
Over the years, Matimba's fur never changed. Other than getting slightly dirty from time to time, it stayed pure white as snow, but Sulahti loved him nonetheless.
He trained him and looked after him like a father, and Matimba became a fine, young heir.
Sulahti could not have been more proud of his adopted son.
Before long, the two bachelors started to attract the attention of lionesses. Most were curious of Matimba, but Sulahti was moreso amused, rather than envious.
Soon, father and son ruled a pride together. Sulahti even became a grandfather to white cubs just like Matimba.
When the time came for Sulahti to take his place among the stars, the pride mourned, especially Matimba.
Even though he was now king of the white lions, Sulahti would always be his father in his eyes. He showed him kindness and love when no one else did. Matimba would carry on his father's love and give it to others.
One day, while out patrolling, Matimba came upon a spotted figure hiding in the bush. It was a tiny cheetah cub, alone and afraid. The white king searched for his mother, but found no sign of any feline near by. At least, not any friendly ones.
As if Mother Nature had intended for Matimba to cross paths with this orphaned cub, he took the child in without hesitation. Just as Sulahti saw past his white fur, Matimba ignored the differences between he and the cheetah cub.
He named the child Toto, and took him in as is own.
The tale of Sulahti and Matimba is still told to cubs of the White Lion pride, showing that love has no boundaries and that no matter who you are or what you look like, Jamaa would always be a pride of acceptance.
