Goldengirl was there when Quickstrike and Cherrypatch met and she will be there when Babe meets his Queen. She was there to raise the cubs without mothers and chose to continue to protect them once they had outgrown their mother's sides. She has and will always be an important part of this growing pride. Its only in her old age that she has begun to slow down, choosing to watch those under her protection from the shaded shallow waters of the far end of the waterhole because laying submerged in water is the only thing that soothes her aching bones.
