Intro

You had just been minding your business, eating a young hare, when a freezing cold northern breeze ruffles your fur. Strange. It isn't quite winter yet. It's still fall, with at least a month yet to go. It's not just you who noticed it, so you're not going mad. The pride who lives here all shudder at the sudden chill, and glance towards the north star. A bit confused, you follow their gaze. There, on the ridge of a cliff that is suddenly lined with snuh, is a tigon. Frost curls from her paws, in her whiskers and shimmering fur. She isn't doing much. Just standing there, watching the pride with almost detached eyes and an unreadable expression. Perhaps it's a little sad? Maybe she wants to enjoy a meal with the pride? You stand up and take a few steps towards the pathway up to the cliff, keeping your eyes on her, when she turns her broad head to face you, locking eyes. The chill picks up, and she turns to walk lazily away from her spot on the ridge above. It seems you were wrong about her wanting company.

Biography

Katumbiri takes a wary step towards Coalfoot, a primal even bigger than the tiger hybrid. You didn't expect your raffle prize lioness to be so uneasy, but here she is anyway. Almost as if she doesn't quite trust the leader of this new pride. Even if she does, though, she clearly agreed to this raffle fair and square. The steps away from her old pride, and towards Coalfoot's, leaving her old king and pridemates behind. Coalfoot leans in to rub his head against her, and pauses at the icy chill in her fur. Were it not for his thick coat of primal fur, he probably would have recoiled. It was as cold as frost. Katumbiri sighs heavily, continuing to walk past Coalfoot in the direction she smells he came from. Coalfoot keeps up easily with his big lumbering paws. "Is something the matter?" he inquires.

Katumbiri's rose-pink eyes glance over back at the primal, and she's rather hesitant to say anything. But Coalfoot's dopey, stupidly big face outdoes his menacing size and big fangs, and wins her over into talking. He seems too much of a big lug to mock her. "I've been passed around from pride to pride since I started aging. I'm getting old, and I'm getting tired of it. But I can understand why a pride wants me gone--you've already felt why. Cold to the touch."

Indeed, Coalfoot presses his shoulder against Katumbiri's, and in the moment of contact he has before she jumps away, he feels it again. Not his imagination. "I'm sorry that you haven't found a place to stay for good, yet. Hopefully our pride will suit you. The last king here, Balaur, led us to this area not long ago. It'll be quite good to have a lioness who knows the area. And," Coalfoot adds, glancing down at his big silver paws as they walked, "I promise you age won't be an issue. My predecessor held onto the status of pride leader until he was practically on his deathbed, so I was old when I took up this position. 8 years. I won't have long to lead the pride, but maybe one of the good things I do for it is giving you a place to stay?"

Katumbiri listens patently, watching the things around them in the same detached way she'd stared at all the pride leaders when they'd come to deposit offerings for the raffle she'd been in so recently. The words were comforting, that much was clear. Her shoulders loosened, and her steps became a little less downtrodden. "Hopefully. I will warn you, you won't have many more tries left to get tigon cubs out of me. And I'm not one to enjoy sitting around a bunch of lionesses and cubs for hours at a time. I enjoy the feeling of the north wind under my paws, more than the stuffy environment of a den full of newborns."

Coalfoot bellowed out a rumbly purr, big muzzle splitting into a smile. "You're more than just a hybrid. Nobody will object to you wanting time to yourself, either. You aren't just a mother, we wouldn't want a lioness trapped in a lifestyle she wasn't made for. Or, tigoness. Hunter you shall be, then, whether you hunt alone or with others. Just try not to bring about winter too early."

Katumbiri cracked a very faint smile, for just a second before returning her rosy eyes to the path ahead. "Perhaps I'd like that. But I will warn you: you might find that I'll stick around longer than normal lions do. No need to use your shaman-given jellyfish on me. i was born as part of the frozen world. I can freeze myself when the time comes. Perhaps your great-grandson will still be preserved meals just outside the territory, long after you're gone."

Interactions

Katumbiri is standing quietly and watching the clouds move over the lands. For some reason this makes your heart skip a beat.

While all the other members of your pride seemed to avoid the river near your lands, Katumbiri enjoyed swimming playfully for hours each day, always returning with sopping wet fur. You had to admit, it was pretty impressive to watch her dive under the water, and you could always admire a nice pair of strong muscles at work.

You find Katumbiri splayed out near some water, panting heavily and looking generally miserable. She started to complain about how hot it was today, and how she wanted to go play in the snuh. You give her a weird look - it feels great today, and snuh is way too cold to do anything in!

You approached Katumbiri to groom her, but she just sort of stared at you. She then shuffled awkwardly a bit before going to lay down in her usual spot.
