The younger of the second set of twin princesses born to Princess Jaehaera, Naerys was unknowingly claimed by Crown Prince Khachiun as his own, and only Jaehaera is any wiser as to the true sire of the young princess. Both cubs sport the stunning rosettes of their grandmother, Queen Rhaenyra, and were named after the style of the Crownlands. They look very much alike, only distinguished by Daenys' lighter coloring and Naerys' garnet eyes.

While her sister was destined to be warded in the neighboring kingdom of the Veldt, Princess Naerys was chosen to be raised at the Bastion.

Princess Naerys, much to the concern of her mother, did not have much mind for politics, preferring to spend her days frolicking with other cubs. She found it hard to sit still during long court sessions with her mother and Jaehaera gave up, allowing her to enjoy her cubhood as she wished.

Later in the year, she witnessed her mother attempting to scold her father for fostering an unneeded rivalry at court with his younger half brother. Khachiun terrified the young princess with a harsh beratement of his wife and Jaehaera took her and her daughter to the Highlands to stay with Princess Alaghujin. Though Jaehaera brushed off her visit as wanting a change of scenery and told her daughter to not speak of the incident to anyone, the young Naerys confessed to her aunt Alaghujin secretly that her father had yelled at her mother for trying to criticize him. Naerys asked Alaghujin not to tell anyone in case her mother found out and Alaghujin agreed, growing worried as to the state of her brother’s mind.
