Joining the pride with Nova, Dwala has also learned that her mother, Meg, and older cousin, Celestia, were also here. The four lionesses were reunited, and caught up on some things. Firstly, Dwala was taught that the pride has descended into chaos, since the last king, Mackintosh, was killed by the usurping Barbados. Secondly, the pride is divided, with the lionesses feuding against one another. Dwala has never seen anything like it, from her father's pride. But she, along with Nova have transferred in well, learning the ropes, and even finding a new friend in Feather, another teenager. Due to her kind nature, Dwala keeps away from the other adolescent females, seemingly mean-spirited and brainwashed by Barbados's suave persona. It made her wonder...what do they see in him? As he returns from another meeting with one of their allies, she rests beside her friends, and majority of the Queen's Court. "Man, Barbados has so many cubs. They sure are cute. I wonder if he has cubs from other prides, like that one. I'm sure he does. Think about it, girls, one day, we might have his cubs too...now that I'm thinking about it...."
