Lady Merle is a warm-hearted and affectionate lioness of royal bloodline. Like the other Ladies of Moon Pride, Lord Mwezi'o met her at the Oasis, wooed her, and convinced her to return home with him as one of his wives. Merle is a loving soul who found a niche within the pride almost immediately. Moon Pride is very fecund and there are always plenty of cubs around. Merle doesn't have the natural nurturing instinct that some lionesses do, but she adores kids nonetheless, so she set herself up among the broodmothers almost immediately upon joining the pride. Merle is not the fiercest guardian, but she is reliable, and better yet, cubs generally adore her. She isn't quite as universally popular as Lady Nightmare, because she isn't as bold or funny. But when a cub needs an adult that isn't their mother or the King to confide in, or wants comfort but can't get it from a distant or bad-tempered mother, those cubs choose Lady Merle nine times out of ten. She always gives them what they need and sends them back to their mothers in a much better mood. Lady Merle has even been known to befriend other species of animal - especially young ones.
