During, and after, claiming Nala, Dereliction was--once again--smitten. He grumbled to himself as he led her to his territory, something about "getting soft." Nala rubbed shoulders with her new king and asked what was the matter. He flicked his tail to shoo her away. She asked again. "I am a merciless lion. I seek glory!" he roared at the sky, lashing his tail. He looked into her beautiful multicolored eyes and sighed. "My pride is filling with lionesses far softer than I ever aimed to be. I don't mind, really, but I'd think I would be tougher than this." He took a moment to admire her pure pelt and touched noses before trotting the last stretch into the clearing.
