Iris is a very sweet lion, who is tender and cares for anything alive. She wouldn’t take a life, and instead would sacrifice her own. All living things seem to love the lioness too- she’s often surrounded with small critters, like bunnies and butterflies, who have taken to following her wherever she goes.
Iris is the herbalist of the pride. Her job often takes her to different places and new sites, which suits this adventurous lion well. She’s been far and wide, and has seen various herbs, animals, bugs, flowers, and more. She has a special interest in flowers, which she was named for. She’s notorious within the pride for collecting flowers to “study” (to decorate). Iris can name all types of different flowers, and is practically a walking encyclopedia for them. Many different flowers have healing qualities, which she often uses to give to the shaman to make different salves and serums to heal injuries or disease her pridemates obtain.

Role: Herbalist

The role of the herbalist is very important, and goes hand in hand with the role of the shaman. This lion is in charge of researching flowers, herbs, and other ingredients for healing concoctions for the shaman. They travel quite a bit, usually with the pride’s herbalist apprentice, and sometimes with the shaman apprentice and the pride’s shaman. They travel to the lands of other prides, and visit other lions with medical roles to share and spread knowledge.
This knowledge is used for obtaining new, better cures for the pride, and for learning about different poisonous plants, to help their pride stay away from them. This lion usually has an adventurous spirit, because they need to be away for long stretches of time, sometimes even weeks. The herbalist often carries the herbalist pouch with them. This pouch is very special to the pride and is passed from herbalist to herbalist. It was given to the pride’s first king, Ragdar, as a gift for his piety from Sorcerer Sphinx. The pouch is said to be blessed, and to bring good luck to those that carry it. The pride’s current herbalist is Iris.
