The sun beamed through the thick foliage.
Everything was still; however the vibrant noises still rang loudly in this otherwise isolated place. The chirping of birds, the buzz of insects, the calls of distant animals. Not everything could be revealed by the almighty sun.
Under low; The silence is furthermore broken. The frogs croaked; and the stepping of animals were heard throughout.
The steps of two tigons. One pair was light and soft; the other carried the sound of waterfalls. They rushed through, rosetted coats hidden by the foliage. One was carrying a bundle in her mouth.
The camp was not far, the smell of ash and dust crowded thick in this area; the shaman had been working; Kavayla knew this.
โKigeni, I can smell it, weโre getting closer now!โ Kavayla roared triumphantly and nudged Kigeni gently in the direction of the smoke. They walked briskly by many animals, not bothering for a quick snack. Soon; they had arrived.
The place in question was an old dead oak tree; its large trunk was carved out, the markings displayed on it were the stories of the tigons. This was the shamanโs den; she was a reclusive old lioness; although not tigon, she bore the coat of their people, her rosettes shimmering.
โHello?โ Kigeni called out to the old tree, waiting for a response.
โYes? Who is it?โ A raspy voice called out, followed by the face of the elder lion. She squinted her eyes at the pair. โWhat is it that you shells want?โ
Kigeni stepped up. โWe wish to bind, Eldress.โ She bowed respectfully, hoping not to offend the tempered Eldress.
โHave you brought the ingredients needed?โ
โYesโ
Eldress huffed before going inside her smokey oak; her tail twitched for the tigons to follow. Inside of the oak were various herbs and meats; most dried out and tacked onto the walls and floors. Tooth carved bowls laid on the floor before them, sitting on a smoldering pile of chalk.
โIf you wish to bind, you must enter the ingredients into the Mantala. Fur comes first.โ
With that, Kav put down the bundle and looked at her tail; with a quick wince she pulled out her own fur, putting it into the old bowl. She turned and watched as Kigeni took the fluffy fur of her chest and ripped the bloody strands out, also entering them into the pot.
โGood, now add in your first kitten teeth.โ
Kigeni nuzzled the bundle open, it was a handful of kitten teeth belonging to both Kav and Kigeni. Hastily, Kigeni took 4 of their combined teeth and dropped them in. The teeth simmered with the fur, almost melting in essence.
โNow the last partโฆโ Eldress eyed the two tigresses, they already knew what they had to do.
Kav squinted her eyes shut, and with a hasty movement she bit into her paw; the sting was followed with blood, in which she poured into the bowl. Kigeni had selected her leg and dangled it above the Mantala as well. The blood swirled with the fur and teeth, staining all the ingredients with its scarlet hue.
Eldress looked into the bowl and grabbed some unknown herbs, tossing them in with the syrupy mess. She stared at the two, and then landed her eyes on Kavala.
โYou, you have been chosen to carry, drink it all, and do it fast, last thing I need is you retching on my ground.โ
Kav took a deep breath before she downed the bowl of blood and teeth. Each gulp was bitter and retched; her eyes stung and ached for her to stop; but she wouldnโt. She was going to do this for Kigeni, and for herself.
Finally the bowl was empty.
After instructing your lionesses to go out on a hunt, | Amaryllis | walked up to you and looked offended at your inability to hunt your own meal. You explained that the females of the pride are the ones who kill prey and provide for the pride. | Amaryllis | turns up her nose and struts away, muttering under her breath about "useless males" and "outdated societal norms". What?
While all the other members of your pride seemed to avoid the river near your lands, | Amaryllis | enjoyed swimming playfully for hours each day, always returning with sopping wet fur. You had to admit, it was pretty impressive to watch her dive under the water, and you could always admire a nice pair of strong muscles at work.
