(from previous owner)Poor old Grandpaw Emhyr var Emreis was resting away from the cubs for a reason today, but that didn't stop Gon! from bounding over and bumping their Grandpaw's chin with the top of their head in adoration before scarpering off. Grandpaw Emhyr var Emreis stares after them as they scamper away, but whatever he wanted to say isn't spoken.
Bio
Aura grumbled under her breath. Another failed hunt and another day without food. She hated her heritage, the reason why she was so big compared to the average adolescent. Her big and heavy paws, her not so agile muscular body, her big head, her long thin tail. She was kicked out of her pride, her mother also a tigon watched, but did not intervene. She was a failure to her parents. And so she took off on her own making sure to put enough distance between herself and her past at her pride. Surviving on her own was hard. She often went days without a scrap of meat. Her frame, while still muscular and big was begining to show signs of starvation, her ribs very visible.
Aura stalked away to her temporary home, her stomach flattened to her ribs. Anger rose inside her like a tidal wave when thinking about her former pride. Her father, oh what a skilled liar and manipulator he was. He adored her at first. Worshipped the ground she walked. She was his most prized member, his special princess. Her father wanted her to be hard and ruthless, a mindless killing machine that instilled fear in others and she refused. She disliked violence and didn't believe that fear could rule a pride. And thus she was deemed unworthy of being in his pride. His rejection broke her apart. Now she had no one and nothing.
Over the following weeks Aura felt as though she was being watched. One day she had just caught a rather fat warthog and was dragging it under the shade of a big baobab tree. Her long awaited meal was finally here. She dug into her meal, not noticing light footsteps approaching her. "Woah! That's one big fat pig you caught there and all on your own!" a young cub's voice rang into Aura's ears and she jumped away from the carcass, eyes wide and blood dripping from her chin and muzzle. The adol tigon stared at the cub curiously. She knew what lion cubs looked like and the cub infront of her didn't exactly look like one. She looked to be halfling like herself. But the other half wasn't a tiger, but some other big cat she couldn't remember the name of right now.
Aura rolled her eye "Piss off, kid. Go back to your mommy," she snarled and then added with a twisted grin "before I eat you". The cub didn't look the slightest bit scared, she looked...offended? "You are very rude, lady. And I just... wanted to be friends with you. I'm different too, you know. They call me a leopon which means the daddy was a leopard and the mommy is a lioness. Oh, names is Tenera by the way," the cub was persistent and annoying. Also manipulative. The tigon looked at the cub with bored expression. "Whatever you are doing, whatever you are hoping to achieve, just stop it. I will give it to you - you are very smart and manipulative little imp, but you aren't as good as you think you are. Now, go back to mommy or I will snap your neck!" Aura had enough of the cub for one day. The little leopon's eyes widened a little and ran away.
Aura watched the cub dart away, her heart clenching painfully. She adored cubs, always has, but now wasn't the time nor the place. Aura didn't like to be rude, but her heart was tender. She needed to defend herself, even from small innocent cubs. She could never hurt a cub. And this was the problem. This was why she was cast out. She was too soft, too kind, too good.
She finished her meal and climbed up the tree sprawling on a thick branch. Thoughts of the cub plagued her mind. Is the cub okay? Does she even have a mother or is she like her - all alone in this world? Guilt and worry entered her thoughts. Such a small cub would be an easy kill for hyenas, leopards (even though she was half leopard, they didn't tolerate halflings), jackals, wild dogs and rogue male lions. She tried to get some sleep, but thoughts of the cub tormented her. 'She is not my responisibility. I shouldn't care what happened to her. She is just a silly cub,' she told herself trying to calm her conscience. It was getting dark and the savannah came alive with sounds of hyenas on the prowl. 'Screw it," she thought and jumped of the tree.
Her heart raced as she ran into the direction the cub went. The tigon sniffed the air in hopes of catching her scent. She shouldn't have wandered far. The hyena schreeching was getting louder - they were on the hunt. But for what? She managed to block the horrible sound and focus on the task at hand. She growled - there were too many hyenas their stench tickling at her nose. And then she heard it - small cries and whine that didn't belong to a hyena. A cub. The tigon wasted no time and ran towards the sound.
Tenera was clinging for dear life to the tall acacia tree trying not to look down. She disobeyed her mother again, she went exploring on her own. While the pride was busy with the creature called
The Harbinger and his requests she managed to escape. Even the ever watchful broodmothers were busy. Now the small leopon cub was regretting this little trip. Underneath her at least 10 hyenas circled the tree, their hideous maws opened, showing razor sharp teeth. By some miracle she managed to outrun the hyenas and climb up the tree. She hoped they will give up eventually, but they've been here for the past 30 minutes. They began jumping and smashing into the tree in hopes of shaking her off. Tenera tried to call for help, but the sounds of hyena cackling and screeching muffled her cries. The cub clung to the tree, her tiny claws dug into the thick bark as the tree continued to shake. Suddenly there was a commotion within the hyena clan - something is happening. Tenera didn't have the strenght to look down, she just hoped that her mom and her pride found her in time.
Aura stalked upon the hyena clan her teeth bared. There is no room for failure, the cub's life was at stake. She could see her clinging desperately to the tree on the highest branch possible. Smart cub, hyenas can't climb. She could see they were attempting to shake the tree in hopes of bringing the cub down. She sneered in digust, the poor cub stood no chance against them. The tigon sprung into action.
She pounced on the nearest hyena effectively trapping him under her heavy body. She snapped his neck quickly. Loud screeching and yowling followed. Good. She got their attention. They left the tree alone and circled her. They attacked as one. Aura swiped her paws at them, leaving long nasty gashes on their ugly faces, bit at their ears and muzzles, pinned them underneath her, but they kept coming at her. They opened wounds on her legs and back, one large female managed to take an alarming amount of her left ear. Aura ground her teeth against the pain and kept fighting. Her size was a huge advantage, but they had the numbers advantage. She managed to mortally injure two more hyenas. Suddenly the remaining ones stopped fighting and let out a terrible symphony of cackles and screeches. They were calling backup. Aura knew she had no chance against a whole clan. She turned to look at the cub with defeat and sadness in her eyes. She was bleeding heavily from her left ear, her body was exhausted and bloodied and her mind was also tired. She saw as more hyenas came to help their clan mates and started advancing on her. This was it.
Another sound pierced the air. Roaring. Lions. A big pride of twenty or so lions came charging at the hyenas. Aura stood rooted at her spot backed into the tree watching the scene unfold. The fight was over in seconds. They hyenas being the cowards that they were backed away and disappeared into the darkness of the night. Silence once again fell over the savannah. Aura watched the lions with caution. Were they going to kill her? "Mom!" the small leopon climbed down the tree nearly falling on Aura and ran to a bigger version of herself. Her mom. A leopon like her. Aura watched as mother and daughter were reunited. They spoke briefly, she couldn't hear them, no she was focused on the heavy stares the whole pride was giving her. And there it was it their eyes. Fear. Disgust. Hate. She wanted to cry out, she wanted to run away.
Finally the tension was broken by an adolescent male lion approaching her. "Whats your name, young one? I would like to thank from the name of all my pride for saving Tenera," he spoke, his words calm and slow as to not scare her off. Aura growled "I don't need your thanks. Next time, take better care of your younglings." Her words were cruel and hateful. She was only useful to them if she was out there killing their enemies. The young king tilted his head curiously and began to speak, but was interrupted by the leopon cub - Tenera. "You saved me. You were so brave and selfless. You're my here," she said and snuggled into Aura's bloodied fur. Aura's eyes softened and looked at the cub "I'm no hero, kid. And you shouldn't wander alone. I must go now." Her path was blocked by Tenera's mother "You should stay with is us. You are still young, too young to be on your own. I know you have no reason to trust me or them, but listen me out. I used to be like you - angry at myself and the world for being different. Not all lions are like you might have experienced. I've found a home with the Luna Lucea pride, a place where I can be myself. If you wish you can join us, no one is forcing you. But please come with us for now, let us treat your wounds." Aura was too tired to argue, she was tired in general. Tired of being alone, tired of starving and barely surviving, tired of running away from her past. She nodded.
The pride regrouped and began walking back to the pride's territory. Aura limped after the pride, keeping her distance. The small troublesome cub found her way back to Aura. "You should definitely stay with us. We play all sorts of games and eat the most delicious zebra meat you can ever taste. It's super fun. Gradma Zaphelia and Granpa Exordium are good rulers, they are very kind. They aren't like your family pride. They aren't bad lions. Please stay. I've always wanted a sister that is like me. That way... I won't feel so different," the cub walked beside her, her pink eyes sparkling with hope. Aura's heart melted a little bit. She also have always wanted a sister or a brother that is like her. Should she trust them? Tenera seemed happy and healthy. Is it possible that the pride really cares for her and her mother? She decided to give them a chance and if she doesn't like it she could always leave. At least she hoped she could. Aura feared she was getting to attached to the small leopon cub. "You know what? Maybe I will stay," she said and playfully nudged Tenera. The leopon beamed at her and stayed with her for the rest of the trip to the pride lands.
Weeks went by and Aura did not leave. Her wounds healed, although there isn't much to be done about her left ear. She could still hear, but the shell was severly damaged. Her form filled out and regained what she lost in those past months of constant starvation. She and Tenera grew even closer. The pride in general as extremelly accepting of her and the fact that she saved Tenera was also contributing to that. She and Tenera's mother have also grown close. Aura found that she had a lot in common with the leoponess.
Carisma always made sure Aura was included in the pride activities and that she could train with the huntresses. The king and queen were also very kind and generous towards her.
