Upon meeting the leopon cub, Mwezi II felt an instant connection to her. The cub reminded her of her recently passed mother, Mwezi. Mwezi and her daughter, Mwezi II were the descendants of a leopon, and thus, a leopard, just like the cub, and so carried the mottled markings of their ancestors. Their ancestral bond instantly connected the two, and Mwezi became a surrogate mother to the cub.

After they had known each other sometime, Mwezi II offered her namesake to the leopon. She felt that the nameless cub had the same energy and kindness that her mother had. Mwezi would be the perfect name for the her. Considering the importance of names in the pride, the cub was delighted to take the older lioness's mother's name. And so, from that day on, the little leopon was known as Mwezi. In order to avoid confusion, Mwezi II allowed the other lions to call her by her birth name, Gepara.

You were feeling a bit down after a pridemate teased you about a mane tangle. Then, Mwezi cheerfully asked you what you did differently that morning to look so ruggedly handsome! Awwww, thanks!
